Moonlight Tree/original marquetry design/veneer art/tree art/walnut/oak/sycamore

This is a handmade marquetry design.
I love working with veneers and as a printmaker I have recently learned and developed marquetry skills. I love to use a simple design so each of the veneers is visible and the beauty of the grain of the wood is clear to see.
This piece is made using end grain veneers of walnut, oak and Sycamore.
The nature of these veneers is to split and crack as the wood dries and seasons. I embrace this attribute and following the Japanese “Kintsugi” technique and highlight these fissures and cracks by filling them with gold paste which adds a beautiful lustre to each piece.
Because the wood is always different each piece is unique.
